AGENDA:
• Voting to approve hiring of a grant writer : There are great government grants available, we need to start researching buildings in Seneca Falls NY. Joy Rose is advocating moving forward using the existing money to pay a grant writer. We received a small grant for a festival in NJ. We have approx 9,500. in the bank account currently. There is a woman who is recommended to us and she writes and consults. She has 2 options 1. $2,500 grant writing, registration, local, state and national #2 $3,000 research, review and identify and write grants and do online submission. Joy recommends that we ask her to come down on the price if we can do more of the grant writing ourselves. Joy proposes that we hire her and specifically have a larger discussion. Joy has e-mailed everyone Claires resume and experience. It is pointed out that the company has 95% track record for receiving grants. Questions arose about obtaining other grant writers and how long it will take to get money from grants.
Motion is made to the board to review the current proposal, interview and anyone can suggest other grant writers. We must report back on Oct 8th to vote on the grant writer. Motion Approved.
Next point was made about writing grants for the movie, for the museum etc. and writing for things from the past. We need to make sure that the grant writer knows about building/property grants in addition to visual art grants for ‘motherhood in motion’
• Motherhood Foundation Film: Should the film continue to be financially sponsored by Joy or should it be owned by Museum of Motherhood. Joy has donated time and resources for this film. $3k went to pay the film crew. Could we write a grant to fund the remainder of the film. It is pointed out that there has to be a way to pay Joy. Carol pointed out that it is unfortunate that Joy had to invest so much of her own money. We did apply for a grant for the film that was denied. Suggestion was made to connect with “Women Make Movies”

• Current grants : Target Grant for “Motherhood in Motion” Lynn put window displays together with artifacts from 50’s onward about woman, music and motherhood. A collage of many different items to raise awareness and create a buzz about the idea of the Museum of Motherhood. The windows were up for peak tourist season and merchants were inspired to decorate when they saw the exhibits. They will be on display through the season.

• FUNDRAISERS: Direct mailing: how do we purchase lists to do mailings. Develop sponsorship materials and press kits to send out. Joy met with Amy F. “Fun, Fabulous Facts??” we are hoping to get her to come out east to do a fundraiser with “herstory”
• Website : We have a testimony page and we should all write on the page
• Suggestion was made about making a WOMANS WINE.
